Time required per month—3 to 4 hours. Specific duties include the following:
· advise the City and County with regard to environmental policy;
· educate the public and local officials on environmental issues;
· perform special studies and projects on environmental questions as requested by the City or County;
· study changes in environmental science and law; and
· promote intergovernmental and public/private cooperation.
Durham County Board of Commissioners Chair Ellen Reckhow has asked the Durham City-County Environmental Affairs Board (EAB) to develop a simple set of environmental indicators that can be used to track environmental conditions within the County from year to year. Such environmental indicators have been developed by numerous communities across the country over the last few years. The EAB's report is link below for your review:
